Help provide urgent emergency assistance for victims of the earthquake in Nepal

Nepal 107 Contributors Launched April 28, 2015 Funding ends:31-12-2015
Project Funded

Thousands of people have lost their lives and thousands more have been injured in Nepal following a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake which hit the country’s capital Kathmandu and surrounding areas on April 25th. The initial earthquake was followed by numerous aftershocks, including a 6.7 magnitude earthquake on April 26th. According to the Nepalese government, over 5,000 people have died and over 10,000 people have been injured. The death toll and number of casualties is set to rise as rescue and aid teams manage to reach villages outside Kathmandu that were in the path of the earthquake. Sadly, thousands of people have been affected by the earthquake, which destroyed buildings, monuments and homes across the city of Kathmandu and surrounding areas.

The injured and families who have lost their homes desperately need emergency assistance: medicine and medical treatment, drinking water, food and tarpaulin shelter.

Please donate to provide immediate emergency assistance for families and children affected by the earthquake

W4’s field program in Kathmandu, RUWON (Rural Women's Network Nepal), is mobilizing all staff and resources to provide emergency help for victims of the disaster: medical assistance, food, water and temporary tarpaulin shelters. A vital priority is to provide medicines, food and water for the countless victims from poor areas in Kathmandu and surrounding villages who are in need of immediate medical treatment. W4’s field team is working to provide urgently needed medicines, food and drinking water to injured people who are waiting at the local hospitals for treatment (in particular Bir hospital & Nepal medical college, which are overflowing with people in seek of medical help). Our field team is also distributing food, water and tarpaulin shelters to families who have been left homeless in Kathmandu and (as of tomorrow morning) to families in Sindhupalchok district.

100% of all donations will be used to fund desperately needed emergency relief items. As a donor, you will receive a report in the coming days and next couple of weeks about the precise allocation, use and impact of your donation.

Please join us and donate to provide emergency relief for families and children who are desperately in need of help.

Latest news:

Thanks to your support, our local volunteer field team has been able to provide emergency assistance - distribution of food, water, tents, medicines - for over 5000 people in 17 marginalized communities of the Sindhupalchowk district in Nepal, which was one of the regions worst hit by the earthquakes. We're pleased to share a short video message from Dhruba, the coordinator of our local field program, who would like to thank you personally for your donation and support.

It's a race against the clock to provide help to families and children in urgent need, with the onset of the rain season. Our local team will continue emergency relief operations in the coming weeks. May we please ask you to share this video, and spread the word about the crucial, ongoing emergency relief operations of our local field team to help rural communities affected by this disaster?

Thank you!
