Girls and women moving the world...

Women's WorldWide Web has been invited to participate in the “Women’s Empowerment” cluster of Ashoka’s upcoming Changemakers' Week to be held in Paris from 16 June to 23 June 2011. This prestigious event will celebrate Ashoka’s 30th Anniversary by bringing together over 1,000 of the world's leading social entrepreneurs. Women's WorldWide Web and other key stakeholders will brainstorm strategies for encouraging women’s economic autonomy as well as programs and policies for the protection of their human rights.

The association, ABACA & EVENEMENTS, has invited Women's WorldWide Web Founder, Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke, to speak at its “Exceptional Women” conference on 21 May 2011 in Paris. The event will centre on the theme of exceptional women entrepreneurs who have become influential social, economic, and political actors. Lindsey has been invited to speak as a “Femme d’Exception” and will illustrate how the work of Women’s WorldWide Web in microfinance serves to help women around the world to achieve their own entrepreneurial endeavours.

 

The gathering will be presided over by Senegalese Minister of Microfinance and Female Entrepreneurship, Ms Seynabou Ly M’backé, and will include the exceptional attendance of former French Human Rights Minister and current French Ambassador to UNESCO, Ms Rama YADE.

Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke, Founder of Women's WorldWide Web will participate in a Reuters live blog debate on the centenary of International Women's Day on 8 March 2011, organized in conjunction with Thomson Reuters Foundation.

 

The debate will explore the status of women around the world today and obstacles to women's social, economic and political progress.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Women's WorldWide Web Founder Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke will participate in a round table discussion hosted by Ashoka on the theme of women's empowerment and social entrepreneurship in 2011. The debate will follow a documentary about the crucial, inspiring work in the domain of women's rights of Dilma Felizardo Ferreira in Brazil, Halime Güner in Turkey and Somaly Mam in Cambodia.
